Cathedral vs Cellar

Last Sunday we switched location. From the magnificent Cathedral to a café in the cellar of S:t Mikael, Kiliansgatan 9. It was a thought-provoking exchange. The cellar certainly lacked the atmosphere of the Cathedral, but reminded me of something else. The presence of God is everywhere! Or as I have seen it formulated – the palace doesn’t give God. God gives the place. The first Christians didn’t have the luxury of churches. They met wherever they could to worship. Sometimes they had to hide to avoid persecution. There are still Christians in our world that live under these conditions. It is good to be reminded of this from time to time.
